Hey everyone, Andy K here.
It is with a heavy heart that I announce the cancellation of the 2010
Camp Nerdly event.
The fallout from the power line/repair issues on the campsite was too
great, the contractors fixing it wouldn't be onsite for another week,
and thus could not estimate if the camp would be usable until perhaps
days before the event was to happen.
Sorry about this. Again, we were all blindsided by this change in
circumstances. While we held hope that we'd get a thumbs up quickly,
it was just not to be. We'll aim to make CN 2011 that much more
awesome.
Money will be refunded via Paypal over the next three days. By the end
of this coming weekend, you will all have the money returned to your
Paypal accounts. Please let us know by Monday if you have not received
your refund.
Now, having dispensed with the unpleasantness of the cancellation of
the event, I'll note that there will now be two events/gatherings of
some sort happening the weekend of the 21st/22nd to 23rd, one in DC,
one in Raleigh/Durham NC:
* If you are in the DC area, Jeffery Hosmer, organizer of the "Ice
Station Nerdly" event, will be hosting a DC house/gaming event. In his
words:
=====
Hey, guys... In recent years, I've been hosting an "Ice Station
Nerdly" in the DC area in the oct/nov timeframe (about 6 months
before/after Camp Nerdly). If Camp nerdly is really and truly
cancelled, my wife and I are prepared to run an Emergency Ice Station
Nerdly for Owlbears in the DC area, like your Triangle local gaming.
I live in Alexandria, VA, and can comfortably host about 20 people.
Jason Morningstar and Clinton have attended an Ice Station, so he can
vouch for me... The Game Must Go On! :)
=====
If you are interested in attending this DC-area event, please join the
Ice Station Nerdly mailing list here:
http://groups.google.com/group/ice-station-nerdly?hl=en * If you are in the Triangle/NC area, Mark, Clinton and I are looking
into a Regional Event of Some Kind for that weekend. The plans are
still vague as to if we will put together a local
tent-camping-and-gaming event at local Umstead Park in Cary/Raleigh,
or a laid-back house-con of some kind (or even both, tents on one day,
houses on another? Again, still hammering out details). If you would
be interested in attending either, please simply reply-all to this
email address and I'll make sure that you are included as we go
through the planning stages.
Thanks everyone for your patience. We appreciate your support, and
can't wait to rally the troops for next year's event!
